Butterfly Bowl sold at auction

I am so proud to see that my newest gold-plated Butterfly Bowl sold at a silent auction this week. 

It contributed £1000 to the Mental Health Foundation, aimed at a specific programme for teenagers - the auction raised an incredible £200,000 in total. 

 I am delighted that my silverware has contributed to such a great cause, and that it links my two worlds together  - my silversmithing and my work with teenagers in an East End secondary school.

I'm adding more to this collection, so will keep you posted on their progress, as I start work in a studio in Hatton Garden.

Dulwich Fair 2014

I thoroughly enjoyed being at Dulwich Craft Fair yesterday, meeting designers and customers. I was delighted to have a table for my art, as well as for the jewellery and silversmithing and I sold one of my original paintings.

Now it's time to get ready for our Open Studios at Flux which starts on Thursday evening with our private view. We'll be open all weekend as part of Camberwell Arts Week

Luxe By Me June 2014

A collective of designers Luxe By Me  is exhibiting stunning jewellery in Craft Central, Clerkenwell.

The Jewellery Showcase is open every day from Monday 2nd June until Sunday 8th June, with late night shopping on Thursday night.

Still life: Chinese Bowls

I've enjoyed immersing myself in colour again, this time developing my still-life series of  Yunnan tea cups, bowls and blossom. All painted with Oil bars, some of them handmade from Sweden: Bivaxoljekwritor:) 

A way of slowing down and observing what I see in front of me. It becomes a meditation on the object itself, making associations with time spent in China and what I've seen out there. 

By using oil bars and a pallet knives, I can't work in great detail. It's an impression of what is there, capturing something about the object without reproducing it as I would in my drawings. 

I'm looking forward to developing this series over the next few months and making some of them available for sale online.

This weekend is the last chance to see Tutti Frutti, Rare Beauty, our October show on Columbia Road. We'd love to see you.  I'll be there with Vicky Forrester tomorrow on our very last day.

 What a great show it's been at the Number Ninety-Four Gallery. Thanks to Simon for hosting us so brilliantly. What a social hub it is! 

 Want to check out a few things on Columbia Road if there's time tomorrow; Beyond Fabrics  for haberdashery supplies and to call in next door to Number 94, where the legendary Angela Flanders, perfumer with cult following, has her original and exclusive perfumes. 

Next week, in between silversmithing and painting, I'll be taking a beginner's calligraphy workshop taught by Japanese Calligrapher, Shoho. And if I have time I'll be along to the V&A to see the Pearl Exhibition and Chinese Painting  - the once in a lifetime chance to see rare collections from around the world.

One year on from Treasure 2012 at Somerset House, I'm delighted to be in the group show Luxe By Me  10-16th June which is showing during London Jewellery Week.

Orchids and Ryantown

This time last week I was in Columbia Road Flower Market to see a venue for an Autumn Show I will be in. I have two lovely orchids from the Flower Market which are surviving (so far!).

 I managed to get to the marvellous Ryantown which I've wanted to see for ages now. I purchased a couple of books - one has already been forwarded to a friend. In the shop I was admiring the little muslin square with Rob Ryan quote, and then I realised it's a  little flyer advertising Ryantown Studio at Chelsea.

I was really glad to hear they will be in Chelsea Flower Show this year with 'Rob's Retreat'.
Just a couple of weeks to go now - my sister Cathy Hart's sculpture is almost ready now for her stand at Chelsea. Can't wait to see it all in place for her second year there.
